Chairman of the Board

Leadership

Upon graduation from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Pat served in the Army, rising to the position of a commissioned officer. After serving his country, he worked in the construction material industry, and then joined Texaco as a construction engineer. In 1969, Pat teamed with his friend Steve Rogers to form Rogers-O’Brien Construction. Through sheer will, determination and support from his family and business associates, he grew Rogers-O’Brien to become one of Texas’ most respected and trusted construction companies. Today, he continues to oversee strategic initiatives and investments for the company.

Pat’s leadership has always been tempered with humility, respect for others, integrity and sensitivity to the needs of his business associates and his clients. His name has become synonymous with quality. In the 1980s, he pioneered a company initiative, Quality Education System, evolving from the company’s work with Texas Instruments, a program that continues to guide Rogers-O’Brien’s focus on quality.

His contributions to the community and the industry have been far reaching and impactful. A past board member for several industry organizations and past president of ABC, Pat was a leader in the consolidation of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Associated General Contractors (AGC) into a singular organization, TEXO, which represents the construction industry throughout the North Texas region. Pat now serves on the advisory board for the Prison Entrepreneurship Program and serves as a board member for Northstar Bank and Turtle Creek Association. Finally, he is a trustee and member at First United Methodist Church of Dallas.

Pat has been honored with multiple industry awards, including QUOIN’s SIR Award recognizing Skill, Integrity and Responsibility to the construction industry, and the American Subcontractor Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Pat’s professional accomplishments are many, but the thing he is most proud of is his 50-year marriage to his wife, Ginger, and the ability to work alongside stepson, Preston McAfee, and grandson, Justin McAfee, in assuring continuity of the family business.
